Show Dogs
We've all seen at least the commercials and many of us have seen the shows on television. A few have been lucky enough to see the events in person, but dog lovers all agree ~ there's nothing quite like a dog show! Watching those beautiful examples of each breed strut their stuff on the floor is like nothing you can imagine. Showing dogs is much more than just teaching a dog a few new tricks. The best of the best work at it like a full-time job. They are constantly working with trainers, vets, groomers, and their dogs in order to make each dog show a success. All people who show dogs agree on one thing: you must start training very early if you're to do it right.
I have to tell you about Jacque, a lady I met while writing for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. IF the newspaper will agree, I will post that article on the site. She shows some gorgeous dogs, one of which has been retired and adopted ~~~ and is who my dog was named after ~ Katydid (yes, we usually call ours KatyBug, but her real name is Katydid).
